Pavesys began projects involving road safety in 2017, understanding the importance of the issue for Brazil and the world. Certified to perform road safety analysis using the iRAP methodology, the company has already evaluated more than 80,000 kilometers.
The application of the methodology involves the evaluation of roads by video recording (survey), coding of attributes from the video recording, search for supporting information (traffic, accident history, among others), star rating, prioritization of countermeasures, and generation of Road Safety Investment Plans. It is important to note that Pavesys has its own software for coding attributes using an AI (artificial intelligence) tool to identify elements.
The projects developed rely on external analysis of the quality of the coding in a sample representing at least 10% of the survey’s scope.
The Investment Plan is an important tool for prioritizing systematic countermeasures suggested to significantly reduce road risk across the entire network considered. The suggested measures will be evaluated economically to prioritize the specifics of the program and to indicate the level of economic return that should be obtained. These programs are designed to reduce infrastructure-related risk and therefore also lead to improvements in star ratings.
The economic evaluation is performed by comparing the estimated cost of implementing the countermeasure with the estimated savings in accident costs that would result from its implementation.
